The Six Things Which the Lord Hates:

God Hates Sin

“But He really hates sin’s that we commit against one another”

Proverbs 6:16-19

There are six things that the Lord hates, Yes, seven that are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers.

1.     Proud Look – (Haughty Eyes) – Haughtiness, Pride – hidden in the heart it is bad enough… but when manifested in the countenance it is especially hated by God… Pride is at the root of all sin. Over valuing oneself, under valuing your neighbor.

2.     Lying Tongue – Falsehood/ Fraud… Truth is sacred and necessary to conversation and relationship

3.     Hands that shed innocent Blood - Cruelty and bloodthirstiness “Jn 8:44 Deceit was from the beginning a liar and a murderer.” Proverbs says not to join with those who lie in wait for blood, to ambush the innocent without cause…Proverbs 1:10-19. Some examples of this type of sin would be Casinos, beer joints, drug dealers, and the like. Those who profit from the destruction of other peoples lives and families, especially their children.

4.     A Heart that devises wicked scheme - Subtlety in the contrivance of sin… wisdom to do evil – the more there is of a craft and management in sin the more it is an abomination to God.

5.     Feet running swiftly to mischief – vigor and diligence in the pursuance of sin. The vigilance, eagerness, and industry of sinners…

6.     False Witness – knowing the truth, but telling a lie against your neighbor. Leaving them defenseless. Lying against an oath.

Sowing discord between brethren – Alienating affections, irritating passions against one another.
