The River - New Assignment
January 29, 2009
Recently Sheryl and I reconnected with some old friends of over 20 years. Jeff and Vickie Dodson are pastoring a church plant in the little town of Novinger Mo.
Novinger is an historic old coal mining town on the banks of the Chariton River about 7 miles east of Kirksville Mo. Over the years there has been several noteable revivals in the Novinger area... (including one in which I recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirit) ... but at this time the region is experiencing a spiritual drought.
Since January 1 2009 we have been meeting with Jeff and Vickie, and worshipping with this wonderful little group of people. Our goal is to see this community reached once again with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every generation needs to experience the release of New Wine for their time on the earth. I believe we are beginning to see the release of this "new wine" before our very eyes.
To some Novinger would be the last place they would go... we have heard several comments about our involvement in this small town. Jeff has a vision from the Lord to see the entire community revitalized. For too long drugs and crime have been the headlines coming out of this old coal mining village. It is time for a new story to be written.
Even the birth of Christ came in a small... unlikely... out of the way place called Bethlehem. I believe that the Lord can be greatly glorified as he moves wonderfully in a place so long rejected by this region.
Along with this new assignment we have embarked upon a mission to see apostolic work done in North East Missouri. We are partnering with local ministries and churches to raise the water level of His Spirit all over this land that we call home. These are trully exciteing times as we see God moving in a fresh new way among us.
